I want to become a skydiving instructor in chicago. I am going to be a firefighter as well but would love to teach people how to skydive and am willing to fork up the money…….since I know that it will cost around $6,000…….like $2,000 for the certification and $4,000 for equipment. Anyone know how I can do this with maybe like skydive Chicago???

I’ve got to do a presentation for about 2-3 mins about a sport and use 10 out of 13 terms in it. The only thing is that I don’t know about any sports.

I would really appreciate help with this. I already went to my teacher with one and he said it was basically worthless.

    Words:
acceleration, friction, mass, inertia, force, kilogram, Newton’s Second Law (F=ma), free fall, air resistance, gravity, vectors, components, and Newton.

I’m currently enrolled as a freshman at Texas Tech University. At first my major was biology, but many people told me that it was difficult so I changed to Excercise Sports Science. I still want to apply for medical school and become a doctor.

I want to take some summer classes but I have no idea what to take! Can somebody please help me? I already finished English 1301 + 1302.

We are planning to run an art contest for the remainder of 2011. It will be based on the “most voted” for artwork and we are aiming at around $500 worth of prizes. The prizes should be aimed at the Australian artists and include: sculptures, painters, photographers and other artists.Someone suggested books and a friend suggested art supplies. What would artists like to win?

I have a 2003 Saab 9-3 vector sedan (the sport model). I don’t know a whole lot about Saabs, and this is my first turbo-charged vehicle. About every 7000 miles, when I am ready to change my oil, the low pressure light comes on. Each time, I have been very low—below the minimum mark. I haven’t noticed that much oil leaking, but do they generally burn oil? Do I need to schedule a service? What do I ask to look for? Thanks!

FYI–I run synthetic oil, recommended at changing every 7000 miles. SAABs reccommend using 15,000 mile synthetic, but to keep an eye on it, I don’t use that kind. So no, 3000 miles isn’t standard for synthetics, that’s for mineral oil. But thanks.
I should also mention, I had it in the shop for an oil leak, and it was fixed, so I assumed I was leaking no more oil. This just happened today, so I wondered if the burning was just a Saab thing.

Sometimes, within my album folders, the album art doesn’t always show in the large icon of the folder even if there’s an album art for the music files. What determines exactly what album art shows, since some folders show it and some don’t. There are no hidden files either of image files, as all the album art are embedded to the mp3 files.

Shivering in the vague light of forsaken street lamps
On a blasted isle far from home

When burning money for warmth, books become insulation.

Plastered in arithmetic, shrouded in triangles and vectors…
    Adorned by 16th century masterpieces

The intricacies of the divine purpose
Sought out by wise men and broken scholars alike
Seem so placid in a pellucid fortress
    Next door from home.

    They, whom are
    Enslaved by Usher,
    Abercrombie,
    Prada,
    Gucci,
But saved; saved from ourselves, themselves.

A smile never spawned without stupidity
    Dreaming lies to dream.

There’s a reason why their brains belong in stasis
There’s a reason why burnt fingers grab and chaff us
Though, there lies no answer to the lies of men,
No opposite of decent, nor inclination.
No polar existence defying life, nor death.

Dim hues shadowing memories lost in the variable mind,
Painted like a mural of your best friend

The roar of traffic and passerby’s engulf your slumber
Tempting your eyes to glimpse reality,

Bottle in hand, face lacking any robust feature
On an isle so far from home…
Isle twelve; apothecary, sport magazines and electronics
    Cosco,
    Frys,
    Wallmart.

What more to sit and enjoy while awaiting a day of judgment?

Eyes in the shadowy dusk like vacated street lamps…
    Thinking
    What a way to live
When really, we’re all the same.
    I’m just not dead yet.

It’s SO EXPENSIVE! I go to a Trade High School and I’m taking Graphic Design. I’m a 10th Grader. And I’m making my own Madden 13 covers and posters for teachers to hang up in the classroom. Though my weakness is making splatters with paintbrushes. But when I graduate and get my Diploma along with a Certificate in Graphics where I become a CERTIFIED Designer. How do I get into a Graphic Design job with a company? Do I have to buy the Software? I hope not, because that Software Adobe Illustrator CS5 & Adobe Photoshop CS5 is Expensive and is over $1,000 ALL TOGETHER. I project it will be $1,654. But a software separate is $500 and I can’t afford that. I hope there’s GD jobs that will supply me the softwares for FREE where I don’t have to pay all that money. Graphic Design is like Golf in a way. Graphic Design is an [expensive] occupation and golf is an expensive sport due to the [golf] clubs. Though, the teacher can’t let us take the software home so we all can download it. That would be infringement and Adobe would strip us of our rights with the software and strip us of our program

Who gets to determine what is great and important art and what isn’t?

I will be a freshman in less than 2 months. and I have just registered for my classes. Can you give me some pointers on how to study and maintain a healthy life/study balance? With this schedule how much should I be expected to study, and how much free time do I have to party and maybe do an extramural sport or join an organization? I am a geology major.

    My Classes:

Historical Geology and Historical Geology Lab (Geol 106)
Hypotheses of Earth’s origin; age dating of geologic materials; development and history of life; plate tectonic reconstructions, geologic history, and paleogeography, with emphasis on the North American plate.

Fundamentals of Chemistry 1 and Chemistry Lab (Chem 101)
Introduction to modern theories of atomic structure and chemical bonding; chemical reactions; stoichiometry; states of matter; solutions; equilibrium; acids and bases; coordination chemistry.

Engineering Calculus 1 and Matlab (Math 151)
Rectangular coordinates, vectors, analytic geometry, functions, limits, derivatives of functions, applications, integration, computer algebra.

    Classical Mechanics (Phys 218)
Newtonian mechanics is studied rigorously using advanced mathematical and numerical
techniques. Topics treated include kinematics, dynamics, harmonic oscillations, central forces,
many particle systems, rigid bodies, Lagrangians, and Hamiltonians.

My personal opinion is that we should ban it because, not only is it taking a a life, but it can also cause pain to the animals involved. If an animal is shot but not killed, he or she may suffer in agony for minutes before being killed, and that’s IF the shooter does go and put the poor creature out of his or her misery. The animal may just be left to die due to blood loss, starvation, predation, infection, thirst or predation.
While I agree that sometimes certain species do need to be controlled, I think that this should be done more humanely by the use of sterilisation and/or deterrents. If there are too many of a certain species in a particular area, I feel that it would be better to just humanely trap all or some of them and move them to a different area?

My options are ceramics, graphic design, painting, photo/imaging arts, printmaking, and sculpture. If this is an unrealistic idea please offer another option.

  38. Clayton Cottrell says:

I am doing a study of “Faith and Reason” written by Pope John Paul II. Tonight we were talking about objectivity and subjectivity. Art was the example used to discuss one’s own perception of good art and bad art and the universal perception of it. I am confused by the subject of art. I personally think good and bad art is subject to one’s own personal opinion.

Can anyone explain to me what is ‘good art’? Like Michelango, Picaso & Van Gogh versus modern art? And by whose standards is ‘good art’ classified as such?

I’ve never taken an art class, I only draw privately once in a while but I don’t consider myself an artist. What books or websites can I go to to learn about art?

  39. white man says:

Art and entertainment are both things that are perceived. Good art and good entertainment both produce a satisfying experience for the beholder. What is the difference?
Everyone has raised some interesting points but I still haven’t found an answer which really explains it.

Some of you have characterized art requiring a creative process but so does entertainment. Also some have said art is expression but entertainment can also be expression. Just think of comedians who express their views in often hilarious ways which offer real social commentary just like art might.

Entertainment has been associated with enjoyment. If there is no enjoyment, there is no entertainment. However, not all forms of entertainment are enjoyed by everyone just like not all forms of art are enjoyed by everyone. Even entertainment within the same genre can be both liked and disliked by different people.

The most common theme I see in your answers is that art is for thinking and entertainment is for enjoyment. I don’t think this holds up because the same thought processes that make art stimulating also makes entertainment stimulating.

Hi, I’ve been looking at websites like this http://www.slant.co/topics/341/~what-is-the-best-2d-game-engine
But can’t find an engine that can support a massive game. Maybe there’s one listed here but I can’t sift through all of them. I was wondering of anyone knows a really good one. I plan to make it 8-bit so the animation and art shouldn’t take up that much space, and also I want it to have a TON of flexibility. Like I want to be able to make one level space invaders format while the next one be a platformer. It also has to have the ability to make cut scenes and other essential things like that. I tried stencyl because it has the “easy coding system” but it’s lacking and a nightmare, the forge is terrible and nothing ever works, the cutscene add on doesn’t work and I need something that can be used professionally. I don’t care if I have to learn coding as long as it works. Thanks in advance and I could use all the detail I can get, thank you

I’m very stressed.. I don’t know what career path I should follow after high school. At first
I thought I should become a Law Enforcer because I’m athletic, I won the athlete of the year award in gr 6, 8 and 10. I’m also good in English I got a 88 in grade 11 and I’m around a 80 now in 1st semester of grade 12 + I speak another language fluently (farsee). I’m a very social person and make friends easily. After discussing this with my parents and doing some of my own research I decided that I should get into Computer Science. I’m good with computers, and understand the basics of JAVA C++ etc. However I’m terrible in mathematics which is a requisite for this program. I’m struggling in Advanced Functions right now, probably getting around a 60. I do my homework most of the time and do all test reviews but I still mess up on tests.. I’m determined to get into Computer Science but I don’t want to end up going to College, I prefer University. I started studying with a class mate, she’s really smart in mathematics and thought that she might be able to help. Does anyone have any advice! Any other careers suitable for me? I currently have Advanced Functions (around 60%), English (around 80%), Law (86%). Next semester consists of Calculus & Vectors (I’m afraid that I’ll do even worse in this next semester), a business course and family studies (it’s an easy University Course, will help raise the average). So you can see I’m not really a math/science guy, but I don’t particularly hate math either. I’M SO CONFUSED!
