Music Maker Jam

Music Maker Jam is an Electronic Sketch pad that can be used to mix, produce, and compose music of all kinds. The app comes with 4 sets of loops (Dubstep, Tech House, Jazz and Rock) produced by our professional sound production team. More loops of different styles are available for purchase from within the app and license for professional distribution are available on Catooh.

People are saying it’s replacing their full dj software and yet it’s easy enough for a beginner to start creating songs without a learning curve of complex professional software inhibiting their creativity from flowing. Functionlity available within the app include selection of up to 8 loops per track and up to 13 tracks per project.

One can record and adjust speed, volume of loops, and add sound effects live during recording. Recordings are exported as mp3s straight to the device and can be shared using windows8 integration to multiple platforms including soundcloud. One fan even produced a video about how the app is replacing his record collection in his dj sets.

It’s just unfreaking believable how the designers of Windows 8 did NOT put any X or Close button on apps/programs that open up! I have to sit there and hit ALT – Tab just to get back to windows. There must be something up , maybe it’s a world wide conspiracy to make people go crazy or something because something that basic and logical could not just have been left out on accident. Someone please help me with the logic of this!

Ok, So I’m needing some help creating a good sounding track.
I wrote a song yesterday, on the guitar, at the moment, I have a rough recording of the guitar and vocal version, which I recorded just after getting the tune and the lyrics to fit together.

I have a Samson CO1U condenser microphone (which is ACE!) and I have Cakewalk Sonar LE Music Software (Which I haven’t got a clue how to use).

So! I’m looking for a FREE and EASY way to put this track together maybe with a little percussion, a little bass… is there anyway I can do this for free?

Or even if you have any advice to get me started on Sonar LE ?

Any advice would be much appreciated!!!!!

  31. Zanto says:

This honestly isn’t a question to bash all rap music, because I think rap music is a great source of inspiration and learning for youth, but my question focuses more on commercial rap music.

The only reason I ask this question is because we would have to be lying to ourselves if we denied the fact that a disproportionate amount of African American youth listen to and are influenced by hip hop music.

Why can’t hip hop artists like Nas, Mos Def, Lupe Fiasco, Common and the Roots (musicians who actively discuss deep social, political, and cultural issues) be the majority when it comes to rap music? While artists like Lil Wayne, Gucci Mane, and Waka Flocka (musicians who encourage party promoting, self-degrading, materialistic, violent messages) be the minority?

It just troubles me that more people, especially those part of the black community, don’t question things like: “why is it that most genres of music marketed towards mainly white people never have negative, culturally degrading, self-harming messages in the music? This includes genres like alternative rock, indie, folk, blue grass, country, techno.

Music that is oftentimes marketed towards black youth (hip hop, rap) disproportionally carry these messages in the songs.. with the exception of R&B (which I love), most music marketed towards young black people carry overwhelmingly violent messages and images.

I mean, why don’t people question why it is that generations of older black folks – people who lived and breathed the Civil Rights Era, for the most part, despise modern rap music and culture? Would Civil Rights leaders and activists like Martin Luther King Jr. be an avid listener of Wiz Khalifa or Drake?

I think it’s mainly a cultural issue… even though there are plenty of white people who listen to rap and hip hop music, white culture (mainly popular culture) encourages white people to find nice jobs, start families, and enjoy some of the finer things in life (such as traveling, nature, getting a taste for different cultures), meanwhile black culture (or at least stereotypes) imply that black people should aspire to be gangsta, have swag, be real/be hood and further pushes stereotypes that infact discourage black people from experiencing the finer things in life (such as that most black people thing nature is scary, most black people would never consider traveling to Europe or Asia, and that getting a nice job is considered “acting white”).

I don’t know, I feel that there are a lot of structural cultural barriers that prevent a lot of people in the black people from moving forward.

    Just a thought.

  43. Sergio says:

    Hello everybody,
Though I have so much to be grateful for here is my question. I am not a rap fan yet I noticed many rap songs from the 90s sample amazing 70s songs and some phenomenal 80s songs. I love my family, I am the youngest, but they all like classic rock and folk. My favorite 70s soul/funk/r & b artists include marvin gaye, diana ross and the supremes (each had SOME 70s work tho some previous work). I like songs like Al Wilson’s “Show and Tell” and the song “The Hustle” as well as Timmy Thomas’ “Why Can’t We Live Together”. “Dream Maker” had a great beat too. Some of these songs have great messages and some have decent messages.

Don’t get me wrong slow songs by marvin gaye and other artists of that time are amazing but I am looking for a list of bands of uptempo 70s songs! is a great sight to look up the uptempo songs of 90s rap hits (and any decade of rap songs). Yet it’s many groups and singers I or my fellow whites grew up never heard of. Jealousy is a sun but sometimes I wish I was a 70s child and 80s teenager.

On that website I noticed many 90s rappers sample a lot of Prince and The Parliament. Songs like “Ain’t No Woman Like the One I Got” by the 4 tops is also the kind of song I am looking for. Over the years since I realized my love of uptempo 70s songs I have purchased some 70s mixes, and some funk mixes (all from that era). Hits are awesome but I’ve learned that some of my all time favorite songs especially from the 70s aren’t that famous.

Yet I don’t want to just buy a whole album by one artist if just one song is good. Not to sound lazy but i’d rather not click and scroll itunes or search engines all day. Temptations, 4 tops, the supremes, marvin gaye, are all people who i’ve never bought an album i didn’t like. 70s CDs and funk mix CDs can be hit or miss and a loss of money. My question is- can someone who was from the 70s please write on here a list. A list of artists/groups who in the 70s came out with quality uptempo albums. I greatly appreciate your help. I know many rap producers know of these songs because they remember them when they were children and teenagers (as they say in their interviews). Or they remember their families playing them back then. I don’t want to be jealous I want to enjoy such classics too!

Anyone who needs upbeat music to get things done, work out, stay motivated, etc. knows what I mean. Though many tried the 70s was a decade of many lame songs too, even according to people who were around when they came out. So thank you for informing me of quality uptempo 70s artists. I hope you are having a splendid day.

I have been playing the piano for five years, and am quite technically and theoretically good, and really love improvising, but I want to join the digital-techno-trance music scene (like at Newgrounds) but don’t know what software to use. What is some good, preferably free, music-making software I could get? I don’t know a lot about computer music terminology though, but I do know that I need something with midi capabilities (is that what I say?) because I am definitely wanting to use instruments (like violins) that I don’t own actually own, in my music. I do have a keyboard, so that isn’t an issue. Also, I’m not wanting something like Sibelius where it is mainly only good for writing sheet music, I would prefer something with high-quality …midis…

If you get what I mean, thanks for your help 😀

Ok so iv decided to build a (budget) computer for making music. I will use is for creating electronic music, and probably in the future recording real instruments.

    I will be using

Cue base (recording with microphones through a Tascam usb interface)
FL studio/Reason (Using my midi controller with various VSTi’s)
Duel monitors I have a nvidia 7300gs which im using for this with my current computer.

This is what i plan to use so far

    Core 2 Duo,E8400,3.0Ghz,6MB,1333 FSB,LGA 775,45nm $192.50

    S775, P45, 4DDR2, FSB1600, RAID, GBLAN, 2x1394a, ATX, PCIE2.0, OC $165.00

    Kingston 4GB kit ( 2GB * 2 pcs) 800Mhz,DDR2,Non ECC CL5 ,240 pin $104.50

    ATX/SERVER 600W P/S,12cm silent fan,SATA *4, PCI EXPRESS * 2,retail pack $71.50

I have a case and hdd i can use

If the prices seem to be higher than you would expect it is probably the fact i live in aus and even if its a bit more expensive i prefer to get all the parts from the same place.

Any suggestions would be great thanks
I will be getting a sound card in the near future.

I was wondering if anybody could take the time to read this and respond with some good bands I might like. I like a lot: rock, folk, pop, some rap BUT I don’t really like modern music; I tend to like older music. Stuff like:

    -The beatles
-Elvis ( burning love, hound dog, and jailhouse rock)
-The mamas and the papas (monday monday, and california dreaming)
-Mama Cass (make your own kind of music)
-Led zeppelin (All of my love, kashmir, dyer maker, and the imm. song,)
-Michael Jackson ( Billie jean, they dont really care about us)
-Simon and garfunkel (sound of silence and mrs robinson)
    -Tom petty
-Toto (hold the line and africa)
    -Rolling stones
Harry chapin (cats in the cradle)
    Pearl jam
    -collective soul
    -the cars
    -the police

    etc etc etc
If you can recommend lesser known ones i probably dont know

Me and some friends recently decided to start making videos and clips for our church, and are starting to buy all the equipment nesecarry, but what we can’t figure out is: How does Hollywood get such amazing audio quality on reality tv shows, interviews, etc.? and also, where can we get equipment like that? Money is not tight, but we want the best quality for the cheapest price.

Hi, does anyone know of any easy music production software like Fruity loops which gives you a lot of instrument packs and allows the flexibility of creating your own sounds, but is very very very easy to use

I’m mainly interested in people who have experience in music production/composition or have actually used any software. Not naming a product of the top of your head please. It’s Cubase, not Q base
Excellent response Siwedlarm. I’m not looking for anything professional or technical. I kind of just want to make ‘beats’ as a hobby. That’s why I’m looking for the simplest music production software with instrument packs and some flexibility to make your own sounds.

Cheers, I’ll look into some of those 😉

first of all, i’m a complete moron …now that we’ve got that out of the way…

like what type of mic should i use? should i put a pop filter in front of it? what do i plug the mic into? i probably already have whatever’s necessary, as i bought recording gear over the past 2yrs; but i’ve never used any of it, and it’s mixed in with my live gear…in which i probably need parts of as well(?). also, what is the best recording software to use that is fairly moron-proof?

any tips would be greatly appreciated.

    uh, yes, i’m female. XD

I’m making a movie on wmm from two wmv’s mixed together with some music behind it. The only problem is, that when converting, it won’t convert more than 8% And when I play it back (as a mswmm), the movie stops at 24:44.8 without fail. I have no idea why. I’ve even switched around clips and it still jams.

Any ideas on what I can do? I’ve already quit out of mm and restarted my computer. I REALLY don’t want to have to start over again. Thanks!

I need to send him an email asking if I could get work experiences with his department, however I have absolutely no idea what to write and how to ask.

Any tips and advice for me on constructing a professional yet interested email for him?

From what I’ve read, it looks like it’s Reason. I know that professionals use Logic and Pro Tools a lot, but from what I’ve read, people say that Reason has solid synthesizers where you can create any sound. So it seems to me like it’s easier in Logic and Pro Tools, but it can be done in Reason.

BQ2: What song would you designate as the theme for the festival? (A song that could be featured when promoting the festival).
BQ3: Five favorite albums (in total) from the acts appearing in the festival?
