i want to buy my girlfriend one of those ebooks for christmas, but i’m not entirely sure exactly what exactly comes along with the things. Like, i know with Ipads you have to set up some kind of account practically for the 3g and what not, its not like that is it? and obviously the books cost money like songs on itunes, so i was wondering if its possible to set up an account with like 30 dollars or something on it so she can pick out a few books on her own or something. i just dont want to give her something thats gonna cost her some kind of monthly payment or anything, otherwise i’d just get her an ipad or something ya know? maybe i know less about all of this than i thought, help!

  2. Con Orpe says:

Okay. I am having my 14th birthday party June 2 (1 week after actual b-day). I am inviting 40 people and thought about having it in my back yard under our car port. It would be from 6 to 8 at night and i already have a music playlist picked out. My question(s) are:
    1. How to know if everyone or most people are coming to the party?? (I REALLY want at least 30 people.)
    2. What if it rains??
    3. What foods to serve?? (Foods Will be inside0
    4. How should I play the music?? I already have the playlist, but if I play it through iTunes, I have to buy ALL 36 songs. If i play it through Youtube, there will be a long space between songs and we most likely aren’t getting a DJ.
Thank you in advance and please help me!!!!!! :)

I know lots of people with iPhones, plus I have an iPod Touch which is kind of like an iPhone so Im very familiar with them, but ive never used an Infuse 4G or any Android phone. Is it any better? Is it worth buying? What are the pros and cons of it compared to an iPhone?

  6. henryshensbcglobalnet says:

i dont know if i should buy an ipad or lab top. what do you think?

  7. Harry says:

Well, It’s summer, and that means camp, beach trips, and vacation for me. I am 14 years old and live in New Jersey, and I just found out that I’m going to France (Or someplace in Europe) for about two weeks in august! This will be my first transatlantic, and out of the country trip I have ever taken… But I do have some questions (*facepalm*) before I go.

    Pre-question info:

-I LOVE aircraft of all sorts! The longest flight I have taken was about 4 hours, not too bad, but the length of the flight is no concern. I love flying. Hoopla.
    – This is my first yes, first trip out of the country (U.S.A.) and I am looking forward to my trip very much!
    – I am not quite sure where I am going, but it is in Europe.
    – I am not a ‘brat’. I learn to appreciate my Fortune in being able to travel and have a vacation. Good, that said.

    1) My mom (unknown to me to me) signed me up for 2 summer camps. I LOATHE these camps. The first one is one week (sleep away) and the other is 3 weeks (sleep away). Both these camps are DIE HARD camps (like tents and dirty food). I hate this whole idea, and I need some advice on ** How to get through these camps to get to my trip** [One thing I find soothing is having an artifact or memory I can hold on to during camp to remember what I’ll do after the camp ends. Maybe something like that] Trust me, I love summer and I am not wasting it. I just hate camps.

    2) Once I am done with my camps (Yes!), how do I physiological and physically prepare for the long flight, and bing out of the country? Like time change?

    3) On the night before the trip, what things should I do to be prepared for when I wake up and go to the airport? Like what should I do with my bag of luggage and electronics?

    4) At the airport (Please note, this is my FAVORITE PART! I LOVE Airports!) what things should I do to get my anticipation and happiness going? I really enjoy the airport and its amenities, so please help me on this.

    5) Finally, whilst on the plane (anyone know what type of plane?) what things can I do to not get bored. I have an iPad, so maybe apps or certain songs?

I am sorry to bug you. As you can see I am very passionate and exited for my trip and I really appreciate any help. Please realize, I will probably keep this note with me at camp to remember my trip coming up!

Your words do help! And I really appreciate your assistance!
Doggie lova 101; Your detailed explanation, and kind advice is greatly appriciated! Thank you very much!

  8. Clayton Cottrell says:

A list of the free games and paid games old and new games also the ones that look really good on the new iPad
Please don’t give me the list they have on the iTunes store

  9. Lasagna delivery guy says:

I’m paying over $80 for DirecTV basic channel package (customer for about 15 years) and over $70 for Verizon phone & 768K internet. Needless to say, it’s time for a change! Neither of them will give me a bundle package (there’s one for Verzon phone, 1.5-3 Mb Internet & DirecTV for $75 advertised right now) because I’m already a customer. So I guess I need to change both internet & tv providers, BUT I want to do it without service interruption. Better yet, is there a trick to getting them to just give me the bundle with the better service that is in the bundle, without first cancelling? What do you do to get the best pricing? Change every 2 years? Seems like such a hassle, but I’m really fed up …

  10. Lasagna delivery guy says:

I reccently turned 13. Since its summer I have nothing to do. I stay up all night, and I’m not just saying until 12. I’m talking about serious stuff, like staying up until 6:30 ~ 7:00am. And sleeping until 1:30pm. I cant take it!! I feel like a fat blob. My iPad has taken over my life! Apps and games ruined everything for me. I weight 120 and about 5’2. I want to lose wieght and get active, but I need to be a kid again! I have a dog 2 fish and 2 gerbils that I love dearly but spend a lot of time interacting with. I want to do more. But my first step is getting sleep. I bought a cucumber to get rid of my dark under eye circles and want to also get my hygiene back. (Please don’t judge!) I’m getting little – tiny zits on my forehead and nose. Pleas whelp me! I’m drowning in my own laziness!!!!

  11. Chris R says:

First, lets get the what should be obvious things out of the way. I said in the title, for a GAMER. So anyone who’s favorite game is a dancing game, singing game, or a a game that strongly relies on motion control you are not a real gamer, you are a casual gamer and I don’t really care about your opinion, no offense.

So, after getting the casual gamers out of the way, I have been searching for a redeeming quality of the Nintendo Wii for a true gamer and I am completely stumped. To do a run down, these are (off the top of my head) the biggest problems with the Wii:

    No third party support

    Terrible and outdated graphics

First party games are (more or less) rehashes of what previous titles (SMG2 is just a graphically updated version of SM64 with a lower quality of level design and a terrible story they keep trying to make me care about. Good soundtrack, though)

Motion controls can’t be used in a practical since due to its inaccuracy and delay (the Wii Motion Plus has IMPROVED (not fixed) the accuracy problems, but the delay is just as present as it always was)

Lack of HD graphics (similar the ‘Terrible and outdated graphics’ I mentioned above, but since the Wii would still look better with 1080p even without much more power I consider it to be a whole other problem)

Awkward controller scheme for playing games

These are a couple of problems with the Wii that I thought of off the top of my head. Anyone who doesn’t find any of these problems to be serious, than you are obviously a casual gamer because and gamer knows that poor controls make a game boring and bad graphics deprave immersion and an overall lack of titles speaks for itself (and the lack of games in undeniable, follow this link and scroll down and you can see for yourself a comparison of games for all systems: http://www.metacritic.com/feature/best-video-games-of-2011).

So, what redeeming qualities does Wii have for a gamer?

Also, I do own a Wii and I have played all the ‘great’ titles on it (SMG2, Skyward Sword, No More Heroes, Resident Evil 4, SSBB, etc.) and although they where pretty fun, they lacked a multiplayer (or at least a good one) and the story modes weren’t good enough to be a redeeming quality.

Lastly, the homebrew apps are fun to mess around with and there are a few good ones, but the fact that they are made by regular old people and that they aren’t even supposed to be used means I won’t count them in Wii’s favor, and even if I did it wouldn’t be much of an improvement.

  12. Xbox360king says:

I’m not sure if this would be good to do it. And also, if you jailbreaked it, then would it mess up?

  13. cardskid22 says:

Both cost the same price £399.99

  14. United says:

I need to make my iPad more secure on New Zealand networks (both WiFi and 3G) while travelling, banking as well as public and private use. What do I install and where can I get it?

  15. Miguel M says:

What’s the better overall buy between the Ipad 4 or Kindle Fire HD?

I want to use the device for reading, web browsing, movies, etc.Is the Ipad good for reading or is it too heavy?

    Any suggestions?

  16. Keegan says:

I’m planning to get a tablet soon, but I can’t decide which of these 2 would benefit me even more.. help me out and have patience with my ignorance?

I’ve been asking these same questions over and over but I still can’t decide… what is there in ipad2 that isn’t there on other tabs or Galaxy tab that makes it soo special, so popular and soo over the top that other tablet can do..

I’m really confused and troubled what to buy because I don’t want to regret buying something that I am not even sure of..

so here’s the catch in my question..

    FOR IPAD2:

*can you transfer file from/to ipad2 from other brands of technology like Dell, Nokia, or Samsung using either USB, Bluetooth or direct linkage?

*can you edit documents from files from microsoft? ( a bit silly of a question, but hey, that’s why I’m here )

*what’s with ipad2 that you like that out bests the other tablets ( excluding the reason for popularity )

    FOR GALAXY TAB 2 10.1

*what is the advantage of galaxy tab 2 against ipad2?

*what does galaxy tab has, that ipad2 does not?

Note: Apple has a lot of apps and has many things to offer… and its popular… I would love it.. but on the other hand, you can send SMS through galaxy tab 3G and surf the net.. however it can’t have its full potential at times and plus… once its new, its expensive.. but as time passes, it decreases and becomes cheaper… soo…… Help me what to choose T u T

  17. David says:

So, my 14th birthday is coming up, and i’m not sure what to get!
I can get either an iPad, Camera or a phone.
I dont have any of those stuff right now, but if I buy a camera, my parents might be able to get me a cheap phone with it.

    So either
    Camera + Realllly Cheap Phone
    Expensive Phone

Oh and if you think I should get a camera, do you know which one I can get under $500.
And if you think I should get a phone, which one should I get under $650

    with reasons please! (:

    Thaaaaank youuuu! (:

  19. Andre says:

I am looking to enter the tablet market, but unfortunately I have absolutely no idea as to the pros and cons of each device.

The main devices I am looking at now are:

    1) Apple ipad 1 (Is this still sold in apple stores? cheaper)

    2) Apple ipad 2 (A little on the expensive side for me)

    3) Samsung Galaxy 10.1 (Wifi only – no SD card or expandable memory, my second choice)

    4) Samsung Galaxy 7 (Wifi only – cheap, and extra portable – so far my first choice)

    5) Motorola Xoom (Also a bit on the expensive side, don’t know too much about it)

My priorities are price – user friendliness/compatibility, battery life, and the ability to read movies in mp4.

    Thanks for the help!

  20. Zanto says:

My iPad 2 says after 10 failed attempts that all data will be erased and back to factory settings.

I have a pass code lock that’s nearly impossible to hack for ordinary people.

Are there anyway I can make it so that if someone steals my iPad that it will be useless for them?

Or can that be beaten somehow?

I’m talking only for the average “joe”. Not experts.

  22. brincks26 says:

Early this morning I powered off my iPad properly, held the sleep button until it told me to slide the thing across the screen to power off.
Then later held the sleep button to turn my iPad back on and it’s telling me to connect to iTunes and once I do that, iTunes is telling me that the iPad is in recovery mode and I have to restore it.
I don’t want to restore it if I can avoid it and I’ve already tried the combination of holding the sleep and home button and etc.
I just got this iPad on Christmas, it’s the iPad 4.
    Please help.

Also, I am currently downloading the newest iTunes, the Apple troubleshooting website I was on reccommended doing that, I’m doubtful it will help.

  24. sakyue1993 says:

I have a 32gb iPad 2 wifi only. I am wanting to get a new ipad 3 with 4g so I can surf the web when I’m not at my house. I would also need to get a 64gb model because I am constantly having to delete stuff and I recently had to delete my photos from iPhoto to save space. I use my iPad primary for web browsing and sharing my photos. I also have a lot of apps and movies/music. If I get the new IPad I’ll have a better screen to share photos with and Internet but it’ll cost me $830! I was thinking I could get a cheaper android tablet like the samsung galaxy tab 8,9 lte from AT&T but I won’t be able to Transfer my iTunes music easily and I’ll have to transfer my photos through my computer. Does the galaxy tab let you share a mobile hotspot what about the new IPad? AT&T said they are working on it but does that mean you’ll have to pay extra for tethering? (I want AT&T because I have an AT&T iPhone 4s and They said they will be coming out with shared data plans. I do not want to use the hotspot on my iPhone because I’ll have to pay $50 and right now I have the $25 2gb plan and I can’t go back to the 2gb I’ll have to go to the $30 3gb plan plus no lte.) Or I could get the new iPad and a cheap android tablet because I want to try Android for once instead of being stuck with apple for everything but that would be $830 plus $200-$300 so it would be better to get an android 4g tablet and wait for the iPad 4 or mini.

  25. ibjammin44 says:

I am not using books this semester since my professors decided to send everything through email or the school web. I would like a tablet since I dont want to waste paper and print everything, and on top of that carry it around. One class relays heavily on PDFs and basically the whole course info is there. The other classes aren’t as heavy but also use PDF and word, one or two powerpoint and that is it. I dont want to carry my laptop either and tabs are easierr to handle and access. Which one would you recommend? I dont need anything fancy, I have an ipod and an android so Im set with mobile technology, so it doesnt matter if it doesnt have a camera, games, movies, etc..

I was playing a game and then it froze and when I tried to press any app on my screen, nothing happens. I can’t type anything nor slide the off bar. Ive tried to restore it but it doesn’t work and I try to reset it and wait for the logo to appear, but that still didn’t do anything. So what should I do? (I don’t have a protection plan for my ipad) thanks for answering.

Should I get icloud and pay for it?
Should I have a Me.com address as my primary email address?
Should I pay for these services or not?

If not, Should I get 4G + Wifi instead?

My iPhone has been texts trough iMessage a lot slower than it used to. It used to send instantly, but now the bar at the top that shows that it is sending gets to the end then stops for about 30 seconds then sends finally. It’s getting annoying and I don’t know how to make it go faster again. Would it help to delete all my texts or delete apps to try to free some memory space? Or is this a problem with my phone?
I also use iMessage on my iPad and these send fast, so it is not an iMessage problem.

  39. Dom L says:

I really want the Ipad for some reason. I went into the Apple store Saturday and looked at it, and now I want it so bad. But, I’ve heard so many different things about it. Some bad and some good. I was planning on getting it for my birthday (which is next month), and I really want to know some stuff about it so I can make a decision. So, if you have the Ipad, can you tell me the good and bad things about it? and if you like it or not?
Should I wait until the next generation Ipad comes out, or get one now?

Early this morning I powered off my iPad properly, held the sleep button until it told me to slide the thing across the screen to power off.
Then later held the sleep button to turn my iPad back on and it’s telling me to connect to iTunes and once I do that, iTunes is telling me that the iPad is in recovery mode and I have to restore it.
I don’t want to restore it if I can avoid it and I’ve already tried the combination of holding the sleep and home button and etc.
I just got this iPad on Christmas, it’s the iPad 4.
    Please help.

Ok so my iPod broke a while back and I haven’t had much of a problem with it functioning normally, until recently. I am on vacation, and all the sudden, the touch sensor will short out mid-use forcing me to turn the screen off and turn it back on literally every 30 seconds. I don’t know hownthis happened, but up until now it has been the same conditions as always, mind you I have an iPod touch fourth generation 32gb, if that helps. The top glass above the screen has fallen off, until the screen part begins, then the glass is cracked, but still holding together. The LCD cable on the right side of the camera and on the left side there is another cable that sticks out I think that is the digitizer cable? Im not sure. Anyways, I am getting the screen replaced, will this fix my problem?
Also- when the touch screen stops responding, the screen still works. If I hit the home button, it would go home, but if I try to swipe to a next page of apps it is as if I wasn’t even swiping.
I cannot call apple or do anything because the warranty is expired and I don’t want to spend more money that I need to to fix it.

I was just playing with my iPad then all of a sudden the app i was playing just crashed/closed then i thought eh…maybe it was just loading really slow or something so i just didn’t really worry then i got bored and decided to go on youtube and watch some videos then every video i watch after 30-50 seconds youtube app would crash then now i was starting to worry then i went on safari and google
ipad apps keep crashing then safari crashed.so i thought let me just shut it down and restart it then i did when i started it the background in the lock screen was black then when i slide it the entire background in the ipad was black the ipad was diagonal and locked that way and i can’t see the bottom thing (safari, music, videos, stuff at the bottom of the ipad) then i went into settings and the top of the settings app is a weird thing that looks like when a tv is messed up,looks something like this http://www.rbtv.tv/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/TV-Color-Bars.jpg then the screen lagged and shifted around so i left and i tried restoring it but it didn’t work and also i tried reset all settings, still didn’t work, like i said all i did was just normal ipad stuff then it just happened,i haven’t dropped it the screen isn’t cracked nothing its in good condition this just randomly started happening so if you know how to fix this please tell me

First of all which date is it I have seen both tagged as the ‘official’ date. Secondly with so much hype towards the mystical Apple tablet (which is not technically a tablet without a keyboard) the thought of other products have been completely overshadowed. In early November I remember hearing the Macbook Pro lineup would be fitted with Intel Core i7, blu-ray, over 1080p screen (as per the iMac) and a new trackpad. Obviously these are all speculations, however has anyone heard of anything about other products Mr. Jobs might be unveiling next week, because my decision of which laptop to buy hinges on it. I have searched for a long time for this, however I can’t find any articles on it.
NerdTV- I could care less about your opinion on this.

C.Tech24- Thanks for the info, but I do have to argue you stance on the “Come see our latest creation” because a newly redisgned Macbook or iPhone (which I would bet 1000 against) is a new creation, it doesn’t mean it only pertains to a tablet.

I’ve been thinking about getting an iPad. I was wondering if it had any sort of external speakers (or like the iPhone, doesn’t, but still can project sound)? And also if you can plug a regular headphone jack into it. 89. Joe T says:

Okay, so I am saving up my money, and I am aiming towards getting an iPod touch. I would use it for it camera, apps, and anything I can think of. But is it worth 300 dollars?

So I want the 5th generation. Newest version. these are some questions I have about it

Is the camera really good? As well as the video?
Are you limited with apps? If so, what kinds of apps?
What do you find extremely useful about it?
    Can you text with it?
Does it scratch easily, meaning the screen and the backside?
Does it use iTunes to store music?
Is it good with wifi? I would use wifi a lot on it
Do you think getting a used one would be considerate?

Anyway, from answering all these questions, it is worth 200-300 dollars? Thanks!

ipad 2 or the new iPad?

  93. Kaden says:

    Which is better and why?
I want to get an iPad, but I’m not sure which one to get. I like the iPad mini because you can hold it easily, and it’s not too heavy, and it’s cheaper than the iPad 4 but it reminds me too much of the iPod touch/iPhone because it’s so small.
I like the iPad 4 because it’s clearer and it is a regular sized iPad. and it has a big screen and it’s easy to play games on, but it’s more expensive.
I’ve been reading on Apple the differences between the two and there aren’t many, but I still can’t decide which one to get.
I’m getting the 32 gb one for sure, but I just can’t decide on which type! Help?

As far as I know there have only been 4 iPad models -1st, 2nd, mini and Retina. However, I’m seeing various different names. For example, Argos on eBay lists iPad 2, 3, 4, mini and Retina whereas the Apple site only has the iPad 2, mini and Retina. I’d like to buy the latest model but I’m left a little confused.

Could anyone clear this up for me?
Okay, thanks. What are the differences between the 3 and 4 (both with retina)? The Apple site only has a ‘retina’ and an ‘iPad 2’, rather confusing.
