Best 10 Windows 8 Tablets On The Market

Windows 8 has a shaken up the design of laptops and tablets, with the new emphasis on touchscreen technology resulting in some of the best hybrids we’ve ever seen.

Below we present some of the latest tablets using Windows 8.

Dell XPS 12

The XPS 12 convertible Ultrabook™ works with the new Windows 8 Pro operating system to deliver the latest apps for work and play in an enhanced touch-based experience — all without sacrificing PC functionality.  Dell XPS 12 fits right into the rest of Dell’s Ultrabook lineup. It’s made from carbon fibre, with a soft textured lid and cool aluminium detailing. There’s a full-sized keyboard and a luxurious trackpad. The Dell XPS 12 weighs a substantial 1.54kg, which is a perplexing bulk for a 12-inch laptop.

Asus Vivo Tab

Vivo is designed as a constant companion that blends the familiar elegance of ASUS tablet design with the familiarity of Windows.
The VivoTab™ & VivoTab™ RT are slim and highly portable tablets with an attractive metallic design. When combined with the new Mobile Dock with a stylish hidden hinge design, it is an excellent complement for the VivoTab™ & VivoTab™ RT, while the VivoTab™ Smart features a multi-colored design and protective Transleeve Keyboard that’s great for everyday mobility & productivity.

Acer Iconia W700

The Iconia W700 differs from other hybrid tablets by not having a keyboard that attaches to the body of the tablet to create a laptop-style device. Instead it looks like any normal tablet, albeit bulkier and 11.6 inches across. It docks into a stand that props it up at a usable angle and acts as a charging stand and USB hub. The idea is that you keep the dock and keyboard at work or in your home, and use it like a full PC. The added HDMI means you can connect it to an external monitor so you’d have no idea you were using a tablet at all. When you leave, just pull the tablet out from the dock, for games, apps and browsing on the move.

A combination laptop and tablet, the HP ENVY x2 has an HD touch display that measures 11.6-inches diagonally. Boasting 400-nit brightness and a resolution of 1,366 x 768, the screen is easily removed from the keyboard chassis and clicks back into place with the help of magnets.

Lenovo Thinkpad Helix

ThinkPad Helix combines the performance of a business Ultrabook™ with the mobility of a Windows 8 tablet. In addition to 10 hours of battery life and digitizer pen input, Helix offers the choice of four unique modes to help you work, share or browse.

Microsoft Surface Pro

Surface Pro has the same styling as Surface RT, with the same premium feel and the same 22-degree angle on the edges to put it at a good viewing angle with a keyboard. It’s a little heavier than Surface RT, at two pounds rather than 1.5, but it’s balanced which means it doesn’t feel significantly heavier in your hands. Lighter devices use plastic cases rather than the magnesium alloy that makes Surface so robust; like Surface RT, Surface Pro feels solid and sturdy.

Samsung Ativ Tab

The specs are fairly impressive. Under that slender shell there’s a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 2GB of RAM and either 32GB or 64GB of internal storage, with room for expansion via a microSD card. The Samsung Ativ Tab’s 10.1-inch 1366 x 768 display may only have a 155ppi, but in use it’s not too bad – jaggies are noticeable but not distracting. It also pips the Microsoft Surface, which has the same resolution but a slightly bigger 10.6-inch screen, leading to a 148ppi. Rounding out the package there’s a 5 megapixel main camera capable of shooting 720p video, along with a 1.9 megapixel front-facing one.

Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 11

Windows RT means the Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 11 is instantly on and always up to date with connected standby, so your mail and apps stay in sync and are ready when you are. The Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 11 also comes with Office Home & Student 2013 RT Preview built in, so you get all the productive power of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote included, and a whole world of new apps available from the Windows Store. The Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 11 works exclusively with apps from the Windows Store.

Dell XPS 10

It’s a 10-inch tablet that’s less than 10mm thick and comes complete with a keyboard dock that makes it seem almost like an ultraportable laptop. The XPS 10 feels as good and as lightweight as a high-end Android tablet in the hand, while the screen is extremely (and surprisingly) bright and crisp – far more so than many Android tablets we’ve seen at IFA 2012, though the screen size here is smaller due to the large bezel.

Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet 2

Create spreadsheets, surf the web, run presentations, and even video conference on the go with the ThinkPad Tablet 2. With the Bluetooth keyboard and optical TrackPoint, creating content just got easier.

  2. JOHN KAISER PHD says:

As someone that would like to get out of the Apple game, anyone think there’s gonna be a worthy competitor to the iPad in the tablet world soon? Maybe the Microsoft Surface?

I’m in the market for a new tablet but these days there are so many available. I’m going to be using it for mostly reading but I would also like it to be versatile. I’m personally an Android person but willing to switch it up however not much of an Ipad fan. I think I’ve narrowed it down between the Google Nexus 7, the Kindle Fire HD,or the new Microsoft Surface. However I have also been looking at the Samsung Galaxy Note 10″. Any suggestions?

  8. Brendan O says:

Can anyone tell me how to get my dell xps m1530 computer to play bluray. Everytime I put in the disc it says it needs an update. I tell it to update. Then it says that the update is successful. When I try it a second time it says it needs an update again.

I’m working at a retail store currently where we sell tech products. We have had the windows surface tablet for about a month and personally i don’t think there is anything so great about it. I think this only because the surface is currently only running windows RT. I was wondering if there is anything special about windows RT besides being a limited version of windows 8 Pro.

I want to know a comparison in numbers explaining how many people in the world use Windows instead of Mac OS X and how many people use Mac OS X instead of Windows. I only intend this question to be applied to Desktop and Laptop users , (Not Data centers, mobile phones, tablets, etc. I exclude server versions of both OSes.) I also do not accept the answer “They use both”

  21. SKATEskum says:

I have a dell xps 17 and lately I’ve noticed a horrible whirring noise that at times is louder than the fan its self. I’m thinking the fan needs replacing so I was wondering what’s a good alternative that’s not too expensive for me?

I just bought a Dell XPS laptop. I don’t want the battery to run low very quickly, so I want to take out the battery and plug in the charger. That way I can still use the laptop without draining the battery. Can someone tell me where the battery on this laptop should be. I’ve tried to find where I can take it out, but I cannot find the battery. Thank you.

  25. vanvark83 says:

I bought a Dell XPS 17 gaming notebook and it’s not the light changeable one. It’s been out for more than a few months and I customized the cover to the plastic one with Design Studio. I decided to do that instead of aluminum, so I can spray paint it. But the thing is, what kind of plastic is it? I want to know, so I can choose the right spray paint, without messing it up.

  26. Orbit says:

That is if my new Dell XPS M1530 has Microsoft Word. It came pre-installed with Vista so I hope it has Word. How do I get to it.

  27. Tyler H says:

I’ve read a couple of articles on ehow and other places like that but none of them work for me.
I wanted to use F8 to get to advanced boot mode.

Click “repair your computer” so I can get to “restore Dell Settings” but that option isn’t listed. What am I doing wrong?

I have a Dell XPS 400 with windows XP installed.

  28. Chris R says:

I heard that there doing a new GUI instead of the classic. Windows 7 was really good and now that I found the gift of OEM software, I’ll be buying every version of windows from now on

  29. Roflcopter says:

I am not a fan of the ipad but am interested to see what people think is the best tablet on the market NOT including the ipad (which i think is priced too high and popular due to consumer hype.) I am in the market for one but got overwhelmed when I went to the store. What tablet has the best features, memory, screen size etc. At the store I played with the samsung tablet and blackberry but I don’t know much about either. thanks

  30. heavenly sword says:

for me, i think it’s Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 because i can play, watch movies, design pictures and even use it in education!

i like the ipad 2 btw

  32. Jermaine J says:

What is the cheapest and smallest laptop-type computer (or brand, if you know) that will support basic MS Office applications and has a USB flash drive port? I’m not even looking for internet capability, just something to write with and save my material on a USB flash drive stick.

  33. jdubdoubleu7704 says:

I am getting a tablet and I really would like a 10 inch android tablet as I know there are many on the market at very good prices. Unlike the ipad, there are many different available tablets with an android operating system, so which one would you most recommend? And why?

    thanks in advance!

And remember, I want a 10 inch one!
i just dont want the ipad.

  34. tjpimpin says:

For the money, which is better? A tablet PC that runs XP, / Win7, or an Android powered tablet? I’m wanting portability, light weight, wifi, camera(s), and great battery life. But, all at a super good price. The ability to run MS software seems like a good idea, but does it add too much to the price?

    Thanks for your comments

  35. Con Orpe says:

Im planning on buying my boyfriend a tablet for his birthday, & was wondering what you guys recommend. I’m thinking of buying him the blackberry tablet, but I want to have a wider array of options.

  36. Daniel says:

I’m looking at running dual screens from my 2010 Dell XPS to my dell inspiron Duo, so i can use the inspiron as like a touch screen monitor. Any suggestions for cables or software that could make that happen? My XPS only has a HDMI out. And the inspiron has no HDMI or VGA but I can get a docking station with vga for it.

  37. Anny says:

i need a tablet pc just to read the news online
so i think all i need is tablet pc with 3g or wi fi right?
please tell me what you think i should get?

  38. Keaton says:

If you want to surf the internet, watch Youtube etc.

  39. Adam says:

Now i’m pretty new to the tablet market, as I am looking for one to get for the holidays coming up. For me, the top things I like is gaming then music. I’d like to also have a wide range of apps to choose from as well. I own an xbox 360 and a PC, so a tablet in relation with that would be nice. The main popular ones i’m hearing about is the Samsung Galaxy, Ipad, now Microsoft Surface. What i’m wondering, is if I already have an xbox, and a PC, why would I want to have a tablet? What is so great about them? And, what tablet would be best suited for me?

  40. Jonathan says:

I am planning on making my first laptop computer purchase and it is highly likely that I will decide to purchase an Acer laptop.

Can someone please recommend a good retailer, as Acer”s website and search engine results give a number of possible sellers.

  41. Thomas Lopez says:

I am going to university next year and I am torn between the two. I have a regular laptop that I will use most of the time, but I would like something light weight (so its easier to take everywhere) and that will have a good battery life that can last through lectures. I would mostly be using it for taking notes and taking it on the go.

I have never been such a big fan of apple because I find Windows works better for what I use it fr, easier to use and the new Windows 8 layout looks cool and new while apples layout has been pretty much the same for years. But, what’s making me want a Macbook is that it always gets great reviews and seems to be more durable, but I would rather have a touch screen (but i don’t want the ipad). I’m also nervous about the kick stand on the tablet and that you are unable to adjust the angle its on, and also since the it has only been on the market for a few months I’m worried there will be problems with them as time goes on and owners complain about it not being able to last long at all.

The sharpness of the screen or any fancy things like that is not really important to me since I will be using my laptop for watching tv shows and movies. If you have any other suggestions of what to buy, I’m open!

  42. John G says:

I did a factory reset of my computer after running into low memory… I stopped acer from installing some of their own programs on my computer because it was taking so long. Today my computer shut off a few times, as well as restarted and entered hibernation. After searching google, it seems I may have stopped the installation of the ePower management utility which controls the fan and is causing my computer to overheat, cuasing the restarting of my computer. Is this really the problem? And where can I DL this?

  77. altair says:

I’ve been wanting to buy a tablet for a little while now, but I cant seem to choose which one I want. I usually prefer android devices, and after some research I narrowed down my choice to two tablets: the Galaxy Note 8.0 or the Google Nexus 10.

I want a tablet that will not easily get outdated soon, that packs allot of cool features, can go under constant use, performs really well and fast and does best all the things I want to do with it:
    – watch videos online (mostly Youtube and anime, I know how to put flash on android jelly bean)
    – play music
    – read Manga/comics
    – play games (graphically intensive and normal games)
    – other casual stuff (maybe taking photos, social media, web browsing…)

I really like the awesome features on the Note 8.0, especially with the S-pen (I love drawing even though I’m not the best at it) and the apps and things you can do with it, like air view. The colors are also better on it then the Note, I’ve heard. The quad core processor looks really nice and the reading mode is good for what I’m using it for. Features like the multi-window, watchON, and more are also pretty handy. It’s also the only one I’ve tried out in a store.

On the other hand, the nexus 10 has that AMAZING screen, though i’m not even sure it’s that’s the selling point for me, but I love that it’s ahead of the other tablets.. It’s more the screen size (better for watching stuff), the front facing speakers, the fact that it is updated to the latest android software, the possible keyboard dock and did I mention the screen resolution? The dual core processor also packs a punch, but I don’t know if it is better than the quad core from the note 8.0.

The PS3 controller input is awesome for both tablets!

Even though I am deciding between these two devices, I’m open to other suggestions for tablets (NO 7-inch tablets… screen to small), Even Windows tablets, other android tablets and if it really is the better device for me, if it ABSOLUTELY is way better than anything else, than maybe i’ll consider the Ipad 4, not the mini (I love widgets). I don’t really have a tight budget, but I don’t want anything to expensive (lets say over 500$ – 600$ CAN…MAX) unless it’s REALLY worth it. I also don’t want people telling me what THEY prefer, I want something that I’LL prefer!

  78. lcollier93sbcglobalnet says:

I want to know which is better depending on software hardware ui specs etc…

  79. andresumoza says:

My old computer recently crashed and no longer works, so I’m looking for a new computer from Dell. Originally I was considering a studio desktop because I thought it was adequate for everything I generally use a computer for, but the option of getting an XPS came up and I was curious. What’s the difference between the two? Are XPS computers faster and more HD or what?

If it’s important, I usually use my computer for web surfing, programs like photoshop, etc. I’m not much of a gamer or anything like that.

I bought the Dell xps 8500 awhile back with 8gb RAM, i5 3450 quad core 3.1 ghz, and radeon 7570 1gb Vram. And i was looking at this to upgrade to. Will it fit inside of the Dell xps for sure? Dell says they support all kinds of variants for the 7770. But i do not trust their customer service.

I am looking at getting a Tablet to eliminate my day timer. I know that the iPad is definately the most popular model on the market, but i do have an iPhone, and i dont know if the OS 4 would be desireable in a tablet for productivity. I am a big fan of the Android operating system and have noticed that a lot of tablets are running 2.2, and i have herd that it is quite good. Essentially i would like to know what your oppinion is on what would be the best tablet. If you have any literature or first hand knowledge anything would be great. Thanks.

I’ve been researching for awhile and I’m still undecided. I keep changing my decision.
    My requirements:
    – Must have some type of e-reader app (like Amazon or Barnes and Noble or something…preferably Amazon)
    – Fast web browser
    – Adobe Flashplayer?
    – Music
    – Camera
    – Optional feature: Can fit in a big or small purse

I keep deciding between the Galaxy Tablets (7 or 10.1) and iPad. But I keep switching back and forth. And now it’s distracting me from my homework 😡

If anyone could help me decide that would be great! Or if you could put your review of the tablet that you own/owned, that would also be great.

My Dell XPS M1530 suffered a bad accident which has caused it to have a cracked screen, now I need to know, the cable on the back of the display panel which connects it to the computer, does the cable completly detach from the old screen so I can use the same cable for the new screen I am getting without buying a new cable for the new screen?

I am not prepared to disconnect everything from the comp, like the keyboard.

Also I live in the UK in St Helens, does anyone know of any good but cheap websites which sell these screens?

What do you think about the Dell XPS M1330 notebook?
If anyone own this computer or know someone who does… or, if you happen to be someone who knows much about laptops in general, would you say that the Dell XPS M1330 notebook is a good laptop? PLEASE
I’m in the process of buying one (ie M1330) with 3GB and 250GB and a host of other features but I keep getting different feedbacks about Dell Laptops and I get confuss as to buy or not.
I actually want something that will last for a long time and dependable.
Any info on this laptop this M1330 will be grateful

got new dell for 3 hard drives ,ide connected
how do i connect my old sata drives?
bought sata to ide connectors but cannot connect close panel on computer as the drive extends too far out?
    someone told me i need
“low profile sata to ide connector ” but dell and the stores dont know what it it.cant find it on line.need old hard drives in pc as they have very expensive programs.
i may have mixed up the terms sata and ide.
however, the hardrive fits ACROSS -NOT LONG WAYS- so if you plug in /attach anything greater than 1 inch to the back of the harddrive to connect it to sata/ide cord, the panel WILL NOT CLOSE.
where do i get the ‘low profile ide to sata thing?’
